Pictures of Italy 1945

On this page are a group of photos that Mac made in Italy during the war.
The Rome pictures were made on March 16, 1945 when
Mac went to Rome for the Clete Roberts Interview.

Many thanks to my friend Salvatore Primiano Cavallo.  With Salvatore's help, we now know what many of the
pictures are.  Salvatore is a native of Lesina.
Palazzo Venezia in Rome, the former
headquarters of the Party and the seat of
the
Fascist government of
Benito Mussolini.
St Peter's Square in Rome. What
you see in foreground is the
Colonnade by Bernini. Behind the
colonnade of Bernini, is readily
distinguishable the
Apostolic
Palace, residence of Pope
Benedict XVI.
The obelisk pictured in the photo, is at
Rome in Piazza San Pietro. The
obelisk is of Egyptian origin. Behind
you see well distinguishable Bernini's
Colonnade.
Shown above the Pantheon where
there are several tombs of the
Kings of Italy.
Republic of San Marino (near
Rimini). Behind the men is well
visible Mount Titano.
Probably this is a photo
taken in
Mondolfo
Airfield, near Ancona.
Pope Pius XII
was the 260th Pope, head of the Catholic Church
and sovereign of Vatican City State, from 2 March
1939 until his death in 1958.
